1. Agreement to these terms

By using this website or making a booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you are booking on behalf of another participant, including a child or a group, you are responsible for making them aware of any terms that apply to their participation.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or restrict rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK consumer law.

2. The services we provide

Show Me The Sky may offer:

• live remote astronomy sessions, in which participants are guided through astronomical targets and may control or interact with a telescope remotely;
• astronomy masterclasses focused on topics such as the Moon, Sun, planets, Jupiter, deep sky, celestial mechanics and astrophotography;
• gift sessions purchased for another person;
• educational material, astronomy tools, software and website content.

The precise content of a live session depends on the date, season, target visibility, weather, equipment status and the package selected.

3. Booking, prices and payment

A booking is confirmed once the required payment has been completed and the booking has been recorded by Show Me The Sky. Prices and currencies are displayed at checkout.

Payments are handled through PayPal. PayPal's own terms and privacy policy also apply to your use of its payment service.

Please check the selected date, language, package or masterclass topic and your contact details before completing payment. If you believe a payment has been made but the booking confirmation has failed, please contact us before attempting a second payment.

4. Weather and observing conditions

Live astronomy cannot be guaranteed. Cloud, rain, wind, atmospheric seeing, transparency, horizon obstruction, target position, equipment availability and other conditions can affect or prevent observation.

A particular planet, galaxy, nebula or other object is not guaranteed unless we explicitly confirm it as part of the booking. We may substitute a more suitable target where conditions, season or equipment make this appropriate.

5. Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds

Cancellation by you

If you contact us at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time, you may request either a reschedule to an available date or a refund of the session price.

Where less than 48 hours' notice is given, there is no automatic entitlement under these terms to a refund or reschedule, although we may offer one at our discretion depending on the circumstances and our ability to refill the session.

Cancellation or material disruption by us

If we cannot provide the booked service because of an issue within our reasonable control, such as instructor or equipment unavailability, we will normally offer a reschedule or refund.

6. Attendance, timing and participant responsibilities

Please join at the agreed time and ensure that you have a suitable internet connection, compatible device, audio and any software or meeting link notified before the session.

If you arrive late, the session may still need to finish at the original scheduled time. If you do not attend and have not cancelled in accordance with these terms, the session may be treated as used.

Participants must behave reasonably and must not attempt to bypass safeguards, interfere with telescope systems, access unauthorised services or use the session for unlawful purposes.

7. Gift sessions

Where a session is purchased as a gift, the purchaser is responsible for providing accurate information and for making the recipient aware of relevant booking, weather, cancellation and participation terms.

Gift-session dates remain subject to availability and observing conditions.

8. Astronomy and solar-observation safety

Participants must follow all safety instructions given during a session. In particular, the Sun must never be observed directly through a telescope, binoculars, camera or other optical device without suitable purpose-designed solar filtration and a safe observing setup.

Do not imitate an observing setup from photographs, videos or educational material unless you understand the equipment and safety requirements. Show Me The Sky educational content is not a substitute for appropriate practical safety supervision.

9. Customer images, recordings and educational materials

Where a package includes an astronomical image, we will use reasonable efforts to provide an image derived from the session. Image quality depends on conditions, target brightness, acquisition settings and equipment, and a particular aesthetic or scientific result is not guaranteed.

Unless otherwise stated, website text, training materials, graphics, logos, software, videos and original educational content are owned by or licensed to Show Me The Sky and are protected by intellectual-property law. They may not be reproduced, redistributed, sold or republished without permission, except where permitted by law.

You may use an astronomical image supplied specifically to you for ordinary personal, non-commercial purposes unless we tell you otherwise.

10. Website and service availability

We aim to keep the website and booking services available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, hosting issues, software updates, third-party services or technical failures.

Website information, astronomy calculations and educational material are provided in good faith. Astronomical data and predictions can be affected by assumptions, data sources and software, and should not be relied upon for safety-critical, navigation or professional operational decisions.

11. Liability

We do not exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability that cannot legally be limited under applicable consumer law.

Subject to those rights, Show Me The Sky is not responsible for losses caused by matters outside our reasonable control, including weather, internet outages, third-party service failures or a participant's own equipment or connectivity.

Our services are intended primarily for educational and recreational astronomy. They are not professional scientific, navigation, medical, legal, financial or safety advice.

12. Acceptable use and third-party links

You must not misuse the website, including by attempting to:

• gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data;
• introduce malicious code or deliberately disrupt the service;
• scrape, copy or redistribute protected content on a scale inconsistent with ordinary personal use;
• use the website or our services unlawfully or fraudulently.

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience or reference. We are not responsible for their content, availability, terms or privacy practices.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions as our services or legal obligations change. The version applying to a booking will normally be the version published when the booking is made, unless a change is required by law or is expressly agreed with you.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also have rights to bring proceedings in the courts applicable to where you live. Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory consumer protection available to you under applicable law.
